If you are in need of medical attention let a race official

Pacers may NOT be used. This includes friends who want to just
run part way with you.
You must finish the race under your own will.
We will be sharing the course with the public. Be courteous
when passing and sharing the right of way.
All runners must attend the 6:55 AM pre-race meeting at the
start line
All runners must carry 2- 20 oz of fluid at the commencement
of the race.
What
are the cut-off times?
8
hours (yea, it was 7... but this is way to hard
for a 7 hour cut-off) for the
50K. 4.5 hours for the 25K
Why
no finisher medals for the 25K runners?
It
is not a normal practice to give out finisher medals for a fun
run. The 25K is a fun run. It is a normal and expected practice
to give out finisher medals for ultra races.
Who will be timing this event and what system is used?
Ten
Toes Timing will be timing the race and they use Compusport
Timed – Run Score Timing
Are there any course oddities?
This
is a trail ultra and race. The race is called THE WORLD OF HURT!
Good God People! The whole thing is an oddity. Make sure you
are up for this.

course will not be closed. Be courteous to other pedestrians
and littering will not be tolerated. You will be disqualified
and asked to leave the race.

What is the course surface?
Single
track, hilly, steep, rocky, sandy, rutted, dirt trail…
I think you get the idea.
What is the weather like for race weekend?
Average
highs are 78 degrees, average lows are 58 degrees. The record
high was set 2 years ago at 99 degrees. Average wind speed is
9mph. Average humidity is 12%.
Is this a race a good race for my first ultra?
Yes
and no. Yes, if you have prepared yourself
for tough challenges before. Yes, if you are willing to do what
it take to finish an ultra. No, if you are
a whining cry baby! Overall – yes it is ok for your first
ultra/trail race but count on finishing without being worried
about being highly competitive. You must be well trained, ready
for the trail and environment and willing to have fun doing
it!
Oh
yeah, this is the desert. There may be snakes, coyotes, wolves,
spiders, scorpions and all kinds of other dastardly things.
Be prepared and remember, you have signed a waiver.
Are
there any age group awards?
Awards
will be given to the Overall Men’s and Women’s Winners
in each race. We will also give awards to the first place finishers
in each of the following age groups 18 – 29, 30 –
39, 40 – 49, 50 – 59, 60 - 69. Finisher medals to
all finishers in the 50k in the allotted time.
